FLORENCE — One of South Carolina’s most notorious killers is again the subject of a documentary.
The Morning News of Florence reports that the Discovery Channel is revisiting the life and crimes of Donald “Pee Wee” Gaskins on Friday night as part of the network’s “Twisted” series.
The series profiles serial killers, trying to figure out what caused them to become so violent. The episode on Gaskins includes interviews with his daughters and investigators.
Gaskins was tried in at least a dozen killings. But in his autobiography, published after his 1991 execution, he claimed he committed as many as 110 murders.
In that autobiography, Gaskins also said he suffered from what he called a “bothersomeness” that could only be relieved through violence.
