On May 23, 2018, at approximately 7:18 p.m., officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department responded to the 300 block of 4th Ave. in reference to a possible disturbance. As officers where attempting to determine the cause of the disturbance, the suspect cursed at them and ran inside his home. The victim in this incident told officers that the suspect attempted to stab him with a knife, threatened to kill him, and threatened to burn his house down. Officers continuously tried to make contact with the suspect, Timotheaous Washington, and get him to come out of his home but he refused. The Crisis Intervention Response Team attempted to persuade the suspect to come out of his home but he continually refused. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get Mr. Washington to come out, the Special Weapons and Tactics Team used gas canisters that forced him outside where he was taken into custody. He was charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature and lodged at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
