The Marion Marauders Society completed their 10th year of Wreaths Across America Sponsorship in November with 514 sponsored wreaths.

The wreaths were placed on Veteran burial sites located in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery and the Beaufort National Cemetery on December 18 (National Wreath Placement Day).

This year’s total wreaths sponsored is the second largest sponsorship total for the society’s 10 year WAA involvement. At Beaufort National Cemetery, there were more than 26,000 wreaths placed on burial sites.

The top five wreath purchasers for the 2021 year were:

  • East Cooper Outboard Motor Club (100)
  • VFW Post 3137 Auxiliary (50)
  • VFW Post 3137 (40)
  • Washington Light Infantry’s Charity Fund (20)
  • Sullivan’s Island Fire & Rescue (17)

Society President, Cecil Evans, said,“without the outstanding support of the East Cooper community, our successful sponsorship year would not have happened. We will commence our 11th year of WAA sponsorship on February 15th 2022.”
