There is a heat advisory in effect today from 11 a.m. this morning to 7 p.m. this evening.
High temperatures in the mid to upper 90s along with moderate levels of humidity will combine to produce heat index values of 105 to 113 degrees.
For today there also is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2p.m., with winds out of the west between 8 and 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Tonight there's a chance of showers and thunderstorms, with a low around 79. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
During a heat advisory, the National Weather Service in Charleston suggest you drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sunshine, check up on the elderly and
stay in an air conditioned location if possible.
