The Citadel will hold a memorial service for cadet Joshua Edwards at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Summerall Chapel.

Edwards, 21, who is from Greer, has been missing since last Thursday.

Folly Beach police found his car on Friday, but so far there has been no sign of the missing cadet.

Leaders at the military college said the memorial service is open to the campus community.

Citadel President Lt. Gen. John Rosa said Tuesday at an assembly in McAlister Field House, that Edwards went missing last Thursday after attending a speech at the school. Edwards sent instructions to friends to check his computer, Rosa said. Material on the cadet's computer revealed a young man who was "upset and very distraught," he said.
