Staff Development Workshops

Comprehensive school-wide or individual staff development workshops are available to introduce new Media In Education (MIE) teachers to the benefits of using MIE in the classroom, or as refresher courses for veteran mie teachers to enhance current skills. All staff development workshops are free and can be personalized for specific grades, subject areas or learning needs. E-Edition Newspaper and SMARTNews workshops are also available. Principals or other authorized school administrators may request onsite staff development workshops by calling 843-937-5766 or emailing rscott@postandcourier.com. Staff development workshops are short (usually one hour), hands-on, and focused on providing teachers with practical tips, materials and ideas that empower them to use the newspaper to teach S.C. Educational Standards.

Please provide the following information when requesting a MIE Staff Development workshop for your school:

  • Your name and title
  • School name
  • School district
  • School address
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address
  • Date of your requested Staff Development Workshop (first choice)
  • Time of your requested Staff Development Workshop (second choice)

You will be contacted by U.S. Mail for confirmation of your scheduled staff development workshop date.

NOTE: Staff development requests are most frequent in August and September. If you would like to request a staff development workshop for your school during one of these months, please provide your request to The Post and Courier at two weeks prior to your desired date.
