A task force appointed by State Education Superintendent Jim Rex announced a list of major reforms Wednesday that educators say will better South Carolina's public school funding system.

The 40-member statewide task force came up with the recommendations, which were presented to the state Senate Joint Education Funding Study Committee.

Among other things, the report says the state needs to establish a fair facilities funding model, to increase the efficiency and simplicity in education funding, and to create a new Adequacy Program that would ensure districts have enough money to accomplish the state's goals for every student.
