AIKEN — Aiken County sheriff’s deputies say a man wanted in the killing of another man in an Aiken parking lot is already in jail on other charges.

Authorities said 24-year-old William Blake III was charged with murder this week.

Deputies say a confidential informant gave them information that helped them solve the May shooting death of 31-year-old Markes Griggs. Investigators say Griggs was shot in the chest with a rifle during a parking lot robbery, and a sock full of crack cocaine was found with his body.

Two other men were also arrested and charged with lying to police or helping Blake after the shooting.

Blake was already in jail on armed robbery and weapons charges. It wasn’t clear if he had an attorney.
