Christmas Tree Festival at Boone Hall Farms

10th Annual Celebrate the Season

The Holiday Lights Driving Tour features dozens of spectacular lights displays powered with 100 percent Green Power from Santee Cooper and exclusively use energy-efficient LED lights.

Chanukah in the Square

Join with members of the Jewish community for the 14th annual Chanukah in the Square extravaganza, sponsored by the Norman J. and Gerry Sue Arnold Foundation and the City of Charleston. This year's event will feature live entertainment, a variety of food stations, and children's activities. We will continue the tradition of lighting the menorah candles at sundown with beautiful historic Charleston as our backdrop.

Celebrate the Season Holiday Festivals

Celebrate the Season! Holiday Street Festival

Head down to Front Beach on Isle of Palms and help bring in the holiday season island style. This free event will have live music, food and craft vendors and even a visit from Santa Claus.

At approximately 5:30 the city will officially light the 24' tree on Front Beach.

Dragon Boat at the Holiday Festival of Lights

This is terrific opportunity to see the Holiday Festival of Lights from a whole new perspective as the sun goes down and the lights come on for the evening. Team up with a pal - or forge new friendships - when you try your hand at dragon boating! Newbies and curiosity seekers will enjoy an on-the-water introduction to this ancient paddlesport while also getting an up-close view of some of our most iconic light displays. 2021 Charleston Holiday Parade

Holiday Parade of Boats

The Charleston Holiday Parade of Boats is an annual event, now in its 40th year. Participants decorate their vessels for a cruise around the Charleston Harbor. Thousands of spectators line the shores along the Charleston peninsula, Patriot’s Point, and other great viewing locations.

Christmas in the Creek Holiday Parade

The parade will take place on St. James Avenue in Goose Creek, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The mile-long parade begins at the intersection of St. James Avenue and Old Moncks Corner Rd. and continues along St. James Avenue until Marilyn Street. Road closures will begin at 8:00 a.m., please plan accordingly. Spectators are welcome to sit along both sides of the parade route.

Santa at Northwoods Mall

Visit Santa at Northwoods Mall for a special holiday memory, Nov. 19 through Christmas Eve! Santa’s Workshop is located in the Dillard’s Court. Visits are always free, and photo packages and frames are available for purchase.

Christmas on the Battery: Carols, Candlelight & Gullah Christmas Stories

Candlelight Tours of Drayton Hall

Holiday Workshop

Deck the halls at the Charleston Museum with our annual Holiday Workshop. Children can sip on hot chocolate and eat yummy cookies as they decorate the little Heyward-Washington house in the KidStory exhibit.  Create ornaments and decorations to take home and to adorn the exhibit.  The decorations done by the children will be on view the month of December for all to enjoy.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker

A holiday mash-up for the whole family, The Hip Hop Nutcracker returns to the stage for its seventh season on tour. Directed and choreographed by Jennifer Weber, this contemporary dance spectacle is a re-mixed and re-imagined version of the classic, smashing hip hop dance and Tchaikovksy’s timeless music together into a heart-stirring and inspirational holiday event. The Hip Hop Nutcracker is brought to life by a powerhouse cast of a dozen all-star dancers, a DJ, a violinist, and MC Kurtis Blow, one of hip hop’s founding fathers, who opens the show with a short set.

Living Christmas Story

The parking lot at Bethany becomes the city of Bethlehem in a drive-through re-enactment of the way life was over 2,000 years ago on the night Jesus was born. Volunteers become the people of Bethlehem as scenes such as the shepherd camp, King Herod’s court and the inn come alive. There are centurions on horseback, women at the well and most importantly, Baby Jesus resting in a manger.

30th Annual Reindeer Run/Walk

The Reindeer Run, presented by Half-Moon Outfitters, is a family-oriented, pet-friendly 5k run/walk located in downtown Charleston. New to this year, the race will start and finish at the RiverDogs Stadium. Runners can choose to participate in person or virtually. The costume contest is a crowd favorite and we are bringing it back again. So don’t forget to dress up in your festive best and compete for prizes and bragging rights! Grand Illumination and Dinner

Join actors in period costume as they take you back to the Christmas of 1782. This lively event celebrates the return of Arthur Middleton from Philadelphia, the end of the Revolutionary War in the South and the departure from Charleston of the British troops. Guests will feast on early American cuisine from the colonial period in the Pavilion following the presentation. One modern version of an old dish was inspired by former Chef-in-residence and James Beard award winner, Edna Lewis. The Night Before Christmas

The beloved holiday favorite returns!  Chamber Music Charleston presents “The Night Before Christmas.” Sing along to favorite holiday songs and listen as well-loved stories come to life with classical music. Musicians of Chamber Music Charleston and CMC TWO perform a variety of holiday music as actors including Colin Waters of Charleston Stage retell classic Christmas tales such as “Snowman at Christmas,” “The Donkey’s Christmas Carol,” and “The Night Before Christmas.”  The audience also becomes part of the performance as they join in for such well-loved holiday songs as “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,” “Frosty the Snowman” and “Jingle Bells.” We will even have a special visit from “Elsa” – brought to life by Charleston’s own Laura Ball – to perform a brand-new arrangement of “Let It Go” from “Frozen.” If we are lucky, it may even snow!
