Williamsburg Technical College’s Workforce Development hosted a county-wide Apprenticeship Celebration on Tuesday, November 16 in the WTC Auditorium. Palmetto Synthetics, Williamsburg County Government, Williamsburg Regional Hospital, Embroidery Solutions and AI Nautics had representatives from their organization complete training through WTC in partnership with Apprenticeship Carolina. Apprenticeship Carolina teams up with technical colleges to provide assistance with training that includes youth and adults for demand-driven careers in targeted fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, information technology, and more!

Williamsburg Technical College has trained 100 registered apprentices in Williamsburg County and intends to increase that number in 2022. Students can benefit from on the job training through this program and even be placed in a job that can become their lifelong career. Adults who are already hired and completing the program are aiming for certifications that help them reach the next level in their career path through things such as leadership training. Companies who participate not only receive the benefits of a more skilled workforce and increased production, they also receive tax incentives of $1,000 direct tax credit for each registered apprentice employed for at least seven months during each year of apprenticeship for up to four years. Large companies are not the only ones taking advantage of this opportunity. Small businesses can also participate in the program with only one apprentice.

Your company can take advantage of this training opportunity as well by getting in touch with Williamsburg Technical College. Once you have identified a training need and established the knowledge and skills needed for that specific occupation, you can begin to customize your training needs with WTC. The program is well organized and simple, so call today to get more information. 843-355-4116
