Traffic Safety Checkpoints

The Lane, Greeleyville, and Kingstree Police Departments and the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting traffic safety checkpoints during the month of October.

Seniors Patrol

The Kingstree Police Department is offering a seniors patrol wellness check. Any elderly, ill or bedridden residents of the Town of Kingstree who would like for the police department to contact them on a regular basis should call Police Chaplain the Rev. Harold Jackson. Volunteers Needed

Seniors and disabled adults in your community are homebound and need your help getting to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, social activities, religious services, and more.

Help them live with the quality of life they deserve at a time when they need it most. You can make a difference!

The Kingstree/Hemingway Magistrate office will have new office hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Felician Learning Center Reopens

Registrations for the free Learning Center at 908 Thorne Avenue will begin in August. This is a homework and enrichment program during the school year.

Proceeding with caution due to the ongoing pandemic, the hours of operation will be limited.

Tuesdays only for children in Kdg., Gr. 1, Gr. 2 from 2:45 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Thursdays only for children in Gr. 3, Gr. 4, Gr. 5 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Spaces are limited so first come, first serve.

Fundraiser

Salters-n-Lane CAO' Masquerade Ball fundraiser, Come Hide with Us, casino style event will be held Friday, October 29, from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the BCF Annex, 1956 Thurgood Hwy., Kingstree. The proceeds will benefit the disabled. For more information all (843) 496-9694.

Waccamaw E. O. C., Inc. Head Start/Early Head Start Program is currently accepting applications for children six weeks to four years old and expectant mothers.

AA Meetings

The Town of Lane Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings will be on Fridays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lane Community Center. If you think you have a drinking problem there is help without judgment.

Child Find Search

Williamsburg County School District is reaching families of children with special needs. If you have a child with a diagnosed disability or if you suspect that your child may have a disability, you may request a Child Find Screening by contacting Williamsburg County School District Office of Special Services at (843) 355-5533 between the hours of 8:00 am-4:00 pm, Monday- Friday. Regularly scheduled Child Find Clinics are on the second Friday of every month in room 30 at W.M. Anderson Primary School located at 500 Lexington Ave, Kingstree. Surrogate Parent Recruitment

Williamsburg County School District is recruiting individuals to serve as surrogate parents for children with disabilities enrolled in an agency who are Wards of the State or otherwise without adults to represent them in educational planning. If you are willing to serve as a surrogate parent, please contact Office of Special Services at (843) 355-5571 to receive an application packet.

Concert Series

Lake City Concert Series 2021-2022 season begins Thursday, November 18, with Ensemble Aubade (violin, flute, and piano) at the National Bean Market of South Carolina at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Vital Aging Annual Meeting

Vital Aging of Williamsburg County, Inc. will hold its 25th Annual Meeting of Members on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 11:00 am. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom. For more information to join this meeting, please call (843) 354-5496.

Annual Meeting

The Tomlinson Alumni, Inc. will hold its annual meeting on Monday, October 18, 2021, at 5:00 pm at one of the outside sheds at the Williamsburg County Recreation Department. Tomlinson High School graduates, attendees, and any others interested are welcome to attend. The meeting will cover filling three officer vacancies and reviewing important updates. Please plan to be there.
