Green Wave pitcher/infielder Daniel Lloyd went 6-0 on the hill during the regular season with a 0.48 ERA to lead Summerville to the Region 7-AAAAA Baseball championship.
The Summerville senior had a fantastic season and has been named the Summerville Communications Baseball Player of the Year. The Green Wave, a team built on pitching and defense, entered the playoffs with an 18-5 record with a 13-1 mark in region games.
“Daniel is the kind of kid who you love coming to the field to coach,” Summerville coach Bo Charpia said. “He is always going to give you his best and off the field you don’t have to worry about him. He is going to do well in the classroom and behave. He does what’s right when no one is looking. He is just like your All-American kid. He’s been what we call our Donkey, our Big Guy. He got some really big hits for us this year and we really weren’t expecting that.”
Lloyd became a big contributor for the Green Wave after moving from Hanahan as a sophomore. A member of the 2016 SHS state championship team, he received a lot of college recruitment interest and in November signed to play for the USC Gamecocks.
