Daley named Boys Golfer of the Year

Jacob Daley

Jacob Daley’s work ethic is paying off both in the classroom and on the golf course.

The Ashley Ridge athlete has an impressive stroke average and GPA and is the Summerville Communications Male Golfer of the Year.

“Jacob has been a leader for our golf team the last five years,” Ashley Ridge coach Brad Dobbels said. “During the 2014 season, Jacob helped lead the team to a state finals appearance. Last season he qualified as an individual for the state finals. The past two seasons he has played No. 1 for us while posting a 38 nine-hole stroke average and a 79-stroke average for 18 holes. Jacob is a hard worker and has been successful in the classroom.”

Daley carries a 4.7 GPA and is on track to graduate with 36 college credit hours. He plans to attend Clemson and major in mechanical engineering.

The Swamp Fox golfer was the runner-up for the 2018 Pickens invitational with a score of 75, which landed him a spot on the all-tournament team.

He placed 18th in a field of 90 golfers at the 2017 Class AAAAA Boys Golf Championships, the highest place for all Dorchester County golfers who participated. His three-round total of 229 was five strokes behind what he needed to garner All-state honors.
