Fort Dorchester sophomore Richard Springs is Class AAAAA’s top-ranked wrestler for the 113-pound weight class.

A handful of Summerville-area wrestlers sit at the top of their weight class in the latest South Carolina Wrestling Coaches Association rankings.

The latest rankings for teams and individuals in the state were released Jan. 11. In the team rankings for Class AAAAA, Chapin remains the top-ranked team. Rounding out the Top 10 for 5A are Dorman, TL Hanna, Fort Mill, Summerville, Carolina Forest, Cane Bay, Boiling Springs, River Bluff and Hillcrest. Goose Creek is ranked 17th followed by Ashley Ridge at 18th and Fort Dorchester at 19th.

Fort Dorchester has two wrestlers ranked at the top of their weight class. Sophomore Richard Springs is ranked first for the 113-pound class while Junior Jordan Evans is ranked first at 285.

Ashley Ridge senior Christian Garland is the top-ranked wrestler at 220. Other Ashley Ridge wrestlers receiving a ranking are Emory Dalton (second at 106), J.J. Marsar (seventh at 113) and Keith Grace (second at 152).

Summerville wrestlers ranked are Xavier Anderson (eighth at 113), Ben Guilliam (second at 132), Preston Smith (seventh at 145), Hassan Williams (third at 152) and Mason Ayers (fourth at 182).

Cane Bay junior J.J. Peace is the top-ranked wrestler at 120. Other Cane Bay wrestlers receiving rankings are Tyson Schirmer (fourth at 126), Asher Honea (fifth at 138) and Ben Newton (seventh at 195).

The next rankings are scheduled to be released Feb. 1.
