The Summerville volleyball team grabbed two of the top two honors handed out by Region 7-AAAAA.
Summerville senior Rebecca Yohe has been named the 2022 Region 7-AAAAA Volleyball Player of the Year. Her coach, Rachel Page, has been named the 2022 Region 7-AAAAA Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Under Page’s guidance and with the help of Yohe’s versatile play, Summerville tied with Ashley Ridge for first place in the region. The teams split their head-to-head games but otherwise swept their region opponents to share the region championship.
Summerville senior Reese Page was also named to the 2022 all-region team.
Ashley Ridge, which claimed the region’s top playoff seeding based on tiebreaker rules, landed three players on the all-region team. Sophomore Sydney Fischer and juniors Indigo McDaniel and Samantha Alwardt represent the Swamp Foxes on the squad.
Rounding out the all-region team are Fort Dorchester’s Alexandria Picciano and Ximena Padillo and West Ashley’s Kylie Kothera and Gaby Gigis.
