Two new restaurants and one axe throwing venue are in the works for vacant buildings located on the square in downtown Summerville. {/span}

According to officials from the town, a pizzeria called Benny Palmetto’s, which currently has locations in Mt. Pleasant and Charleston, is coming to 111 S. Main Street. The building was once the town’s old fire station. The site is currently under renovation.

Just across the railroad tracks, at 101 North Main Street, a restaurant is planned for the vacant building located on the corner of East Luke Avenue and North Main Street. The property is owned by NT Estate, LLC. Plans for the renovated restaurant building show the future name as Laura Restaurant & Bar. Feit Design, LLC received final approval from the Commercial Design and Review Board this month but will still need to apply for building permits before renovation can begin.

The Axe Joint, an arts and entertainment lounge with a bar, is coming to 120 S. Main Street in the building formerly occupied by Tip Tap Toe Dance. Advertised on Facebook as “Summerville’s first family-friendly axe throwing lounge,” the joint will have several axe throwing lanes and a bar.
