The Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a homicide in Summerville, found on Dec. 25.

Steve Griner, 25, of Florence was found dead in a wooded area behind Magwood Drive in Summerville. He was pronounced dead at 4:40 p.m. the same day by the coroner.

The body underwent an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina on Dec. 27.

The Summerville Police Department, and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating.

The Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a motor vehicle collision on US 17 Alternate, near Clubhouse Road, about 10 miles south of Summerville.

Matthew Eric Thornton, 16, of Ruffin was killed in a head-on collision with a dump truck, after his vehicle crossed the center line of the roadway.

The body underwent an autopsy at the Medical University of South Carolina at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 1.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol, and the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
