Investigators are looking into a possible link between a break-in at a Johns Island home and a confrontation over Facebook postings.

The Charleston County Sheriff’s Office was called about 3 a.m. Friday for a report of a break-in in progress.

A 28-year-old Carpenter Street man told a deputy that he heard his dog barking and then the sound of glass breaking, according to a Sheriff’s Office incident report.

The man described the intruder as a white male, six feet tall with a buzz-cut hairstyle and dark clothing. The man left after reportedly exchanging shouts with the 28-year-old, the report said.

When the 28-year-old and his wife were asked if they were having problems with anyone lately, they informed the deputy of an incident where threats were made over posting of "vulgar things" on Facebook.

The 28-year-old said the man who made the threat claimed he would "shoot him and feed him to his pit bulls," the report states.
