Marine artist and conservationist Guy Harvey will be at Palmetto Moon at 420 Azalea Square in Summerville on Saturday to meet fans and sign autographs from 2 to 4 p.m. and present checks to two local nonprofit groups.
During May and June, the Charleston-based retail chain raised $15,000 from sales of Guy Harvey T-shirts.
Harvey and Palmetto Moon officials will present a check to the Coastal Conservation Association of South Carolina at 1:30 p.m. He will present another check to the Sea Turtle Rescue Program at the S.C. Aquarium at 5:30 p.m.
Hubee D's Tenders and Wings will soon have a second location in the region.
Owners John Ferguson and Dana Sinkler will open their new chicken restaurant in early October in Belle Hall Shopping Center off Long Point Road in Mount Pleasant. It's in the former location of Just Fresh, a business also owned by Sinkler. Their first area restaurant is in St. Andrews Center in West Ashley.
The pair also plan to open other locations in early 2012 in Summerville, Charlotte and Athens, Ga. Hubee D's also offers catering as well as a mobile food truck.
Columbia-based Frank's Car Wash plans to expand into the Lowcountry this fall. The family-owned business will open its first area car wash Oct. 1 at 124 College Park Road in Ladson. Another local shop is planned, but no details on its location were released. The company is named for Frank Hutchins, who opened his first car wash in Columbia in 1973. It is now owned and operated by his son, Michael E. Hutchins.
A new consignment shop called ConsignTime is now open at 1610 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley. The 2,400-square-foot store is owned by Monica Thomas.
