BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will host its ninth annual Walk@Lunch Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 at Marion Square, 329 Meeting St.

The insurance company says people should incorporate at least 30 minutes of exercise into their days, which will reduce stress and cholesterol. The event will include food and health vendors and prizes.

The United Healthcare Children’s Foundation is looking to help South Carolina families by paying for children’s health care treatments that are not covered by their commercial insurance plans.

By applying for a grant, a family can receive up to $5,000 to pay for physical therapy, counseling, surgeries and other treatments.

Roper St. Francis Cancer Care is hosting a screening and prevention expo from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Roper Hospital-Berkeley, 730 Stoney Landing Road in Moncks Corner.

The Medical University of South Carolina and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center recently partnered to offer eye surgeries for veteran patients.

The surgeries are performed as an outpatient procedure and take place at MUSC’s Ambulatory Procedure Center, 735 Johnnie Dodds Blvd., Suite 104 in Mount Pleasant.
