The Charleston Dorchester Mental Health Center recently won an award in Nashville, Tennessee, for its work in the "telehealth" field.
According to a press release about the recognition, in 2016, the center partnered with the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston County EMS and the S.C. Telehealth Alliance to offer patients "on-site emergency mental health assessments in real-time."
For example, "When Charleston EMS responds to an emergency that involves a suicidal individual or an individual experiencing some form of psychiatric distress, EMS staff are able to connect with CDMHC’s Mobile Crisis team via teleheath technology, using a secure mobile tablet, allowing CDMHC clinicians to assess the patient and determine the best course of action."
The award was presented two weeks ago at the Vidyo 2017 Healthcare Summit.
