DHEC announce 90 new coronavirus cases; Georgetown County with nine cases

The novel COVID-19 disease was first detected in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China and now has been detected internationally, including the United States. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes is named "coronavirus disease 19 (COVID-19).

DHEC officials announced 90 new coronavirus cases, bringing the total confirmed cases to 10,178. Five additional deaths were also announced with thew total now at 440. 

This is the lowest amount of cases that the Palmetto State has had in 19 days.

With nine new cases, Georgetown County total now sits at 69. For zip codes breakdown, the 29440 has 41 reported cases and 29510 has 9 cases.

Four deaths occurred in elderly individuals from Chesterfield (1), Darlington (1), Florence (1), and Lexington (1) counties, and one death occurred in a middle-aged individual from Horry County.
