Chatman no longer Georgetown Public Works Director

The former head of the City of Georgetown Public Works department has been reassigned to another position.

Tim Chatman, who has been in charge of the Public Works department for over 12 years was demoted to a supervisor role according to Sandra Yudice, City Administrator.

On Thursday morning, Yudice confirmed to the Georgetown Times/South Strand News that Chatman is now in a different role, but she cannot comment on personnel matters. Yudice said that she is currently in charge of the operations of the public works department and that Chatman is still working for the city.

This news comes after the arrest and firing of six city employees who were accused of stealing alcohol from the Wooden Boat Show a couple weeks ago. Yudice said that Chatman was not present when the alleged crime took place.

More details will be provided as this is a developing story.
