Georgetown man charged with crashing into police car, charged with DUI

The person who hit a police officer vehicle, on Friday evening, was charged with DUI.

David Allen Haynes ,37, of Georgetown was charged after hitting Georgetown Police department Sergeant Scott Scogin from behind while he was in his police car assisting a disabled motorist in front of Walgreens on North Frasier St. Haynes was arrested by the South Carolina Highway Patrol for suspicion of driving under the influence.

Haynes was charged with driving under the influence, first offense, and unlawful storage or transportation of alcoholic liquors and was released on a $1,471 bond on Saturday morning.

Sergeant Scogin was taken to the Georgetown Memorial Hospital for an evaluation, according to authorities. 

Scorgin was later released from the hospital.
