Back in December, when Hootie & the Blowfish announced the first hometown show as part of its Group Therapy Tour with Barenaked Ladies, the general public never had a chance to buy tickets. Credit card-exclusive presales and fan clubs ate up all the tickets before the official on-sale date for the Sept. 13 concert at Colonial Life Arena. Another show was quickly announced for Sept. 12, and apparently, that one sold pretty well, too.
Today, the tour has announced one more date at the arena on Wednesday, Sept. 11, meaning Hootie and the Ladies will now play a three-night stand at Columbia’s 18,000-capacity arena. Taken all together — and without resorting to hyperbole — they represent one of the city's biggest-ever concert events, an encouraging sign following the success of last year’s Beyoncé and Jay-Z show at Williams-Brice Stadium that the area can support such massive undertakings.
Tickets to the new show go on sale to the general public Friday, March 1, at 10 a.m. Citi cardmembers will get access to purchase presale tickets starting Monday, Feb. 25, at 10 a.m. Additional presales through the Hootie & the Blowfish Fan Club, PLATINUM Pre-Sale, the Barenaked Ladies Fan Club and Live Nation/venue presale will open on Feb. 25 and Feb. 27.
