Third Bierkeller Release Moves Indoors

The Whig. Photo by Thomas Hammond

Chicago’s Goose Island makes the heck out of some sours, and this Thursday, May 9, you can try four of the best on tap at The Whig for their Sour Sisters at Migration Week event. The Whig will have the Madame Rose, Halia, Juliet, and Lolita on tap. These are special, rare and/or cellared kegs of some of the best sours out there, so you don’t want to miss them. The Halia is a farmhouse ale brewed with fresh Georgia peaches and aged in a white wine barrel that is especially exceptional.

Lexington Hosts Wine Walk

The vino will be flowing in downtown Lexington this Saturday, May 11, as the 9th annual Wine Walk On Main gets underway at the Icehouse Amphitheater from 6 to 10 p.m. Guests can stroll down the main Lexington drag and sample hors d’oeuvres and wine from exhibitors, restaurants and Main Street merchants. Tickets are $40 per person and includes a complimentary wine glass and tastings. The event is put on by the Lexington Beautification Foundation, which is partially to thank for many of the lovely spaces in Lexington’s downtown.

Bone-In Does Game of Thrones Right

We are down to the last few weeks of Game of Thrones, and if you’re a fan, there will be no better sendoff for the cultural fantasy phenomenon in town than the one going on this Tuesday, May 14, at 7 p.m. at Bone-In Barbeque. Their Game of Thrones Trivia and Costume Contest promises to be a much bigger splash than the typical Thrones trivia night. Owner (and big Thrones fan) Scott Hall is well-known for his lavish themed dinners and adding a true theatrical aspect to any event he does. On Facebook, he promoted the event with pictures of a Dothraki warrior pulling a Coyote Ugly on the Bone-In bar, so you know this is going to be one of those kinds of nights. The trivia will be hosted by Erick Johnson (the aforementioned Dothraki warrior) and Deborah Adedokun (formerly of awesome band Debbie and the Skanks). There will be some great prizes for the costume contest so folks will be going all out. There will of course be Westerosi bites and cocktails on hand. And some of the cocktails sound worth travelling beyond the Wall for. There’s the Blood and Sand Snake, the King Slayer, the Night King, the Mother of Dragonfruit, and appropriately a frozen cocktail called the White Walker. All shows must die, and this night will give you a chance to party it up with some fellow Thrones super-fans.
