Fall Line door

As of Feb. 4, the doors of Fall Line (formerly Delaney's) remain papered over with a November issue of Free Times.

Long-running, loosely themed Irish music pub Delaney’s closed in November in the heart of Five Points. But a new bar is set to open in that spot Feb. 14: Fall Line.

The owners are keeping the bar and grill set-up, but are changing a few things up on the food and drink side. With 30 beers on tap, the menu aims at a more interesting bar food experience with starters like pesto dip and fried peppers. There are also plenty of green things in five salad options, plus a selection of hearty sandwiches, burgers, wings, tacos and pizzas (including an intriguing-sounding shrimp scampi pizza).

The name of the bar comes from the drop in elevation from the Piedmont to the coastal plain, which happens right around Columbia, and the rapids it creates in the Congaree River. Those rapids allowed for the mills that generated power and turned Columbia into a hub for trade in centuries past, according to Fall Line’s website.

Fall Line is at 741 Saluda Ave. and will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and late night.
