Corey LaBoo’s brontosaurus-sized deep-fried turkey wings — called “wangz” on the menu — give run-of-the-mill chicken wings some serious wang envy. Peppery, crispy skin gives way to the moist-to-the-extreme turkey meat lurking underneath. And as large and in charge as these flappers are, they’re so lip-smacking good you’ll seriously regret not having a spare to nosh on if you order just one.
Drizzle on some of the accompanying “Dat Sauce,” a banging tangy and smoky barbecue concoction, for the full-on umami experience.
When I attempt to get LaBoo to divulge what’s in his sauce, he says it’s “top secret.”
“It’s guaranteed to grab your attention and taste buds with just one try,” offers LaBoo.
The best way to wash the wangz down is with LaBoo’s “mudd juice”, a delicious and refreshing lemony concoction that tastes halfway between lemonade and a sorrel drink.
Beyond the wangz, Laboo dishes out a myriad of salads, seafood platters, wraps and more. His daily specials, like real lobster, crab, shrimp and sausage jambalaya or lamb chop lollipops, are always mega tempting, too.
