After only six months, the HEMI Food Truck Court located at 728 Meeting St. in West Columbia has ceased operations, citing heat and location as factors in this decision.

HEMI Food Truck Court owner Christina Suvarna says she considers this project to have been a trial run.

“It was a sad thing to let something you worked so hard on go,” Suvarna says. “Although some may view HEMI’s closing as something negative I see the potential it has in the long run.”

The food truck court opened in March 2016 and often featured five to six trucks on the lot per day, most of them during the lunch hours. The lot also hosted a smattering of evening movie nights and other nighttime events.

Suvarna says that she plans to try and reinstate the concept again in the not-so-distant future. She is also staying closely involved with the food truck industry with The BEAST Catering, which according to its Facebook page is a fusion of exotic Indian spices and traditional American cuisine, and will be at Soda City Market on Saturdays.
