Riverdogs running concession specials

The holiday weekend is over, but Joseph P. Riley Park is continuing to serve patriotic-themed concession specials through the RiverDogs’ current home stand.

Through Sunday evening, when the team closes out its ninth consecutive home game, featured snacks include a Carolina dog with chili and slaw; a grilled cheese sausage and a fried Snickers bar. “This treat is sure to send your taste buds into a frenzy,” a press release intones.

But in keeping with the healthier bent of foods introduced earlier this season, there’s also a smoked turkey taco with corn salsa and a watermelon salad on the limited-time menu. The lettuce-based salad is made with quinoa, watermelon, cucumber, grape tomatoes, basil, blueberries and feta cheese; it’s served in a replica helmet.

Also on the fruit front: The ballpark is now serving a strawberry shortcake beer shake, featuring Time Traveler Strawberry Shandy beer, vanilla ice cream, strawberry syrup and a shortcake wedge.
