While The Getaway’s name is a nod to the King Street bar’s beachy feel, it’s not just patrons who are likely to feel liberated at the one-time King Dusko.

After years of making deviled eggs and chicken wings for the college crowd at Warehouse, executive chef Emily Hahn is again concentrating on her favorite type of cuisine. The founder of Empanada Mamma, which had a farmers market run before Hahn was promoted to the top job at Warehouse, is serving up a menu of cebiche, coconut greens, Chilean fish stew and salt cod croquettes.

Hahn, a contestant on "Top Chef Charleston," traveled in South America between stints at Carolina’s. That part of the world also influenced managing partner Genevieve Mashburn’s cocktail menu, which includes pisco and plenty of rum. (To counterbalance all of that alcohol, Hahn is once more baking empanadas: They’re filled with chimichurri and chicken.)

The Getaway, 541 King St., is open Monday and Wednesday-Saturday, 4 p.m.-midnight; Sunday, 11 a.m.-midnight. Food service ends at 11 p.m. For more information, visit thegetawayonking.com.
