Grumpy Goat, James Island

With more than three decades of restaurant experience between them, Stephanie and Jack Warren are familiar with the challenges endemic to the food-and-beverage industry. Yet they recently pressed ahead with their ownership dream, opening Grumpy Goat Seafood Cantina in a former bar on James Island.

“This opportunity presented itself, and we love Mexican food,” says Stephanie Warren, whose resume includes front-of-house jobs at Lana, Cypress and Peninsula Grill.

Warren and her husband, previously a manager for Holy City Hospitality, plan to stress seafood and a family-friendly ambiance at Grumpy Goat. In addition to a selection of tacos and salads, the menu includes shrimp-and-grits, steak fajitas and blackened tuna.

Grumpy Goat, 1023 Harbor View Road, is open Monday-Thursday, 4-10 p.m.; Friday, 4-10:30 p.m.; Saturday, 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m. To learn more, call 843-872-6521 or search for Grumpy Goat on Facebook.
