There isn’t a formal dress code at Barony Tavern, unless you’re four-legged.
The “focal point” of chef Robert Carter’s new restaurant, according to a release, is a painting of a deer in a suit drinking wine. The decor also includes stuffed and mounted foxes wearing bow ties. The interior details in the 100-seat dining room are supposed to evoke the “huntsman sophistication” of old English estates.
In keeping with the theme, the menu is heavy with roasted meats, with chicken, lamb and pork listed among the specialties. The restaurant also serves steak, seafood and classic appetizers, such as shrimp cocktail, beef carpaccio, crab cakes and foie gras. Barony Tavern, 68 Wentworth St., is open daily from 7-10 a.m.; 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 5:30-10 p.m. Dinner service is extended by an hour on Friday and Saturday nights. To learn more, call 297-4246.
