Since opening in early 2014, Leon’s Oyster Shop has been the site of many impromptu small parties occasioned by the Upper King Street restaurant’s fried chicken and chargrilled oysters.
Now, Leon’s is making its host status official with the debut of The Oyster Shed, a private event space.
Housed in a Charleston single house directly behind the restaurant, The Oyster Shed is furnished with a custom-built table for 24. But if the brick patio is added to the equation, guest capacity can grow to 60.
Event coordinator Genevieve Mashburn says menus were designed to facilitate “casual, welcoming, family-style” gatherings. In addition to the expected fried chicken feasts, The Oyster Shed also can prepare oyster roasts and Lowcountry boils.
