Weeks before Parlor Deluxe opened for business, Food & Wine was already praising the “fun” on Warehouse chef Emily Hahn’s soda shop menu.
“Her waffles come with craveable combinations like chai soy caramel and banana, or sesame and miso butterscotch and smoked walnuts,” the magazine reported.
Not quite what you’re craving? Parlor Deluxe also serves ice cream treats, such as milkshakes, floats and egg creams; tater tots dressed with everything from guava-smoked honey to beer cheese; and hot dogs with so many different collections of toppings that a dog done up with chili, sauerkraut, onions and cheese whiz was still unnamed when the shop opened. Customers were asked to drop nomination slips in a jar.
Other hot dogs, priced from $8-$11, include The Tuk-Tuk, with pickled banana peppers and date hoisin barbecue sauce; Cheeky Greeky, featuring Greek yogurt, feta cheese and Sea Island peas; and Lil’ Kimchi, topped with miso mustard glaze and toasted dried shrimp. (All of the foregoing descriptions are significantly abridged, but you probably already guessed that.)
