Each year, the Charleston Wine + Food Festival hosts a cocktail competition and invites local bartenders to battle it out for the opportunity to have the signature drink of the festival.
Morgan Hurley, the beverage director of Mex 1 Coastal Cantina, won the challenge with "A Noble Hospitality," a tequila-based drink that will be served at the Opening Night party and the North Charleston Night Bazaar.
Hurley shared the recipe for his winning cocktail.
A Noble Hospitality
Vida Mezcal rinse
1 ounce Don Julio Reposado
1 ounce Aperol
.5 ounce Punt E Mes
1 ounce pineapple juice
Dehydrated orange (for garnish)
Take a chilled coupe glass and spritz with mezcal. Add above ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously and double strain. Garnish with dehydrated orange.
