The "Save Our Water Campaign" is SweetWater Brewery's annual fundraiser for Waterkeeper Alliance, a global movement of 200 Waterkeepers that focuses citizen advocacy on pollution issues that impact waterways and communities. To generate awareness for the campaign, SweetWater brewed up the Waterkeeper Hefeweizen, encouraging patrons to "give of your liver to save the river," by enjoying the seasonal ale, purchasing T-shirts and making paper fish donations at participating restaurants, bars and retail locations where the beer is sold across the Southeast.
In 2011, Atlanta-based SweetWater launched Waterkeeper Hefeweizen, a beer with a cause, helping to spread the campaign's crusade right on the beer label. Now, as a part of its seasonal Catch & Release lineup, this unfiltered brew has made its return to Charleston shelves and draft taps this month. Visit www.waterkeeperbrew.org for more details. The beer is available through Labor Day.
Members of the community passionate about the quality of Charleston's waterways, a cornerstone of Charleston's character, location, recreational activities and history, along with craft beer drinkers.
The suggested retail price for a six-pack is $8.99. Prices vary at local bars and restaurants.

"SweetWater Waterkeeper displays all of the classic soft banana and vanilla notes of a Hefeweizen, accented with spicy clove undertones. How fitting that this beer is perfectly made to pair with spending time by the water." - Brandon Plyler, certified cicerone, Charleston
