The Boheme is the signature cocktail developed for The Kessler Collection Grand Bohemian Hotel that recently opened downtown.
Samantha Lopez, food and beverage manager at the hotel, developed the cocktail. She says the Boheme’s smoky and spicy notes reflect the Kessler family’s desire for a cocktail based on cultural and seasonal influences and for something festive and bright.
The cocktail includes many trends seen in the past year: shrubs, the vinegar-based syrup; housemade flavoring syrups; and the prominent role of cocktail ice. The Boheme features Espolon Blanco Tequila, a housemade pineapple shrub, a Fresno pepper-infused simple syrup, smoked ice and a lime garnish.
The Grand Bohemian smokes water using a smoking gun and hickory smoke. The fragrant plume of smoke vapor permeates the water that is then frozen and chipped for cocktail use.

The Boheme is a complex cocktail that balances the sweetness of the shrub, the spiciness of the pepper syrup, the tartness of lime, the quality of the tequila and the faint trail of smoke into a refreshing and sophisticated cocktail.
