Here's a chance for training that will make many a meat lover salivate: barbecue judging.
The S.C. Barbeque Association is holding a class to train new certified judges 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Jan. 21 in Goose Creek. The seminar will be held in the meeting hall of First Baptist Church, 141 St. James Ave.
The daylong seminar is designed to start a participant on the path to becoming a full-fledged certified barbecue judge. Association President Lake High says the Charleston area has a number of new barbecue contests coming up, and judges are needed. The SCBA last held such a class in Charleston in 2007.
To register, contact High at Lhigh1@sc.rr.com or 803-782-9595. The $45 fee includes a barbecue lunch and membership in the association.
