Keegan-Filion Farm is launching a meat share program this month, similar to the popular Community Supported Agriculture programs that offer vegetables.

The Walterboro farm will sell shares of naturally raised meat, including pastured poultry, hogs and grass-fed beef. The program will operate like a CSA, with shares paid in advance, except that deliveries will be made once a month rather than weekly.

A typical monthly share will provide 20 pounds of meat consisting of two whole chickens, 3 pounds of ground beef, 1 pound of stew beef, one beef roast, 3 pounds of a combination of bacon, breakfast sausage, garlic brats, hot Italian sausage, kielbasa, chorizo and smoked loose sausage.

Also included will be a pack of thin-cut pork chops and a 3- to 4-pound pork roast.

Quarterly shares are $120 per month, or six-month shares are $110 per month.

The farm is planning a drop point west of the Ashley and will consider other locations with at least 10 members participating. Contact Annie or Marc Filion at 548-2565 or, or visit
