Island Coastal Lager
What is it?
Island Coastal Lager is a craft beer developed by Sullivan’s Island locals Scott Hansen and Brandon Perry and brewed by a Lakeland, Fla., facility.
The duo were inspired to create a beer that would quench thirst, satisfy craft beer fans with the vitality of its flavor profile and contain no adjuncts, fillers or preservatives.
What’s the story?
Hansen and Perry wanted to produce a light lager that plays well with heat and humidity, and to distribute it throughout the Carolinas. To achieve both aims, they hired a copacker that promotes "partner brewing."
Their lager was released on Oct. 5 and is available in 12-ounce cans and on draft.
What’s the price?
Suggested retail is $10.99 per 6-pack.
Who’s selling it?
Look for it at Mex 1 Coastal Cantina on Sullivan’s Island.
It is also available at Bottles Superstore, Mount Pleasant; Total Wine And More, West Ashley; Whole Foods, Mount Pleasant; Refuel, Daniel Island; Harris Teeter and restaurants and bars in the Charleston area.
It also will be available at the Island Taproom on Shem Creek, which is scheduled to open in 2018. This full-service taproom is another enterprise of Hansen and Perry.
What’s the flavor?
ICL is a light lager with 4.5 percent ABV and 12 IBU. Brewed with Vienna malt and Perle hops, it's intentionally light on hops flavor.
