SLOW FOOD potluck: Slow Food Charleston is holding its annual Fall Potluck Picnic 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Fields Farm on Johns Island. Festivities include an outdoor picnic potluck, live music from the Bluestone Ramblers, farm tours and a cooking demo led by Helen Fields. Guests should bring their own beverages and picnic supplies and a dish to share for the potluck. Bake a favorite pie for the American Pie auction. Proceeds from the auction and ticket sales benefit the Slow Food Charleston nutrition projects in local schools. The picnic will take place rain or shine. Pets on a leash are welcome.

Fields Farm is at 3129 River Road, Johns Island.

Tickets are $10 for members, $15 for others, and $5 for children under 12. Reservations not required and tickets are available at the door.

Art and Absinthe: Creative Spark Center for the Arts in Mount Pleasant presents "Edgar Allan Poe: Back From the Grave," a performance art event Oct. 9 inside Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island. The event will be preceded by a VIP reception, "The Absinthe Affair," featuring a signature absinthe cocktail prepared by Poe's Tavern. Chefs auction: The March of Dimes annual Signature Chefs Auction is a black-tie event with gourmet samplings from top Charleston chefs, silent and live auctions and a cocktail reception. Begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Embassy Suites, 5055 International Blvd. in North Charleston.

Tickets and sponsorships can be purchased online. Individual tickets are $150.
