Tea room: Second Presbyterian Church, 342 Meeting St., will host its fifth annual tea room May 28-29 and June 4-5.

Hours are 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with takeout available. Call 723-2662 for takeout orders. The menu includes soups, salads, a salad plate, quiche, sandwiches and homemade desserts. Live music during the tea room will be provided by The Limes and The Coconuts.

The church's cookbook, homemade jams, jellies and other foods also will be for sale. Parking is available in the church's back parking lot. All profits go to the missions of the church, most of which are local entities.

Guest chef's dinner: The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort's second "Guest Chef" dinner series May 27 will feature a tribute to Holly Herrick's book, "The Charleston Chef's Table: Extraordinary Recipes From the Heart of the Old South." Herrick will join chef Marc Collins of Circa 1886, chef Fred Neuville of The Fat Hen, chef Ken Vedrinski of Trattoria Lucca and chef Nathan Thurston of Kiawah's Ocean Room in creating a four-course meal that showcases each chef's dish in the book. The event begins with a 6:30 p.m. reception followed by dinner at 7 p.m. in The Ocean Room. The cost is $69, excluding taxes and gratuity. To make a reservation, call 768-6253.
