The Cookie Chick’s chocolate chip cookies

What’s that? One of the first entries in Faith Keppler’s ever-growing lineup of cookies, sold exclusively at farmers markets.

Who recommends it? Cara Tarpin, the baker behind The Swingle

Why? Strangely enough for someone who makes her living slinging pies, Tarpin says she’s “not a dessert person.” But she makes an exception for Keppler’s chocolate chip cookie, which fulfills her criteria for chocolate chip cookie perfection, from its crisped edges to chewy center.

“Faith does some serious cookies,” Tarpin says.

Prior to the 2012 launch of her cookie business, Keppler was a pastry chef in New Jersey. She’s since developed nearly three dozen cookie varieties. Iced lemon sugar and ginger molasses are the best sellers, but Keppler says she prefers blueberry-and-dark chocolate oatmeal.

Where is it? The Cookie Chick appears weekly at Kiawah's Freshfields Village Farmers Market (Mondays); the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market (Tuesdays) and Summerville Farmers Market (Saturdays.) For more information, search for The Cookie Chick SC on Facebook.
