Vintage Coffee Cafe

What’s that? Coffee consumption among the very young is skyrocketing: According to a recent study published by the Journal of Human Lactation, coffee is a daily habit for 15 percent of Boston 2-year-olds. So perhaps it makes sense that Vintage Coffee Café identifies its “family-focused environment” as its distinguishing characteristic. The Mount Pleasant coffeehouse and adjoining pizzeria offers a playground and birthday party space, in addition to salads, sandwiches, beer and wine.

Who recommends it? Smith Anderson of 9*80* Sauces

Why? For Anderson, who sells his sauce to Vintage, choosing the café to receive his Food Chain baton came naturally. He praises Vintage’s “all-natural recipes” and use of “all-natural ingredients.” Plus, he says, the “food is always consistent and flavorful” — which counts as a compliment, even if a sauce merchant has a vested interest in bland dishes.

Where is it? 219 Simmons St., Mount Pleasant. Vintage is open daily from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, call 843-352-7552, or visit vintagecoffeecafe.com.
