Daily digest What one local ate over the course of a day

Bear Barrow is a bartender at A.W. Shuck’s.

How I do my schedule is I sleep for a couple of hours, then I wake up, go to the gym, come home, shower and sleep. And then I wake up and eat the first thing of the day around 2 o’clock. Yesterday, I had the Hawaiian roll from Queen Street Grocery and an Orange Grove (citrus beverage) from Weaver Family Whey. The roll is like cucumbers, carrots and avocados, topped with tuna and pineapple.

And then I went to work. I had a couple of oysters because we got new oysters in. Taste testing, you know. We got a new Ace of Blades from ACE Basin, and Naked Cowboy from New York. They might be my new favorite ones. They’re not overly briny: There’s a sweetness and cream to it. It’s definitely intriguing.

After work, I went to Craftsmen (Tap House). I had a beer and the fried oyster risotto. It’s oyster season; I can’t refuse an oyster. I go to Craftsmen every night I work for late night. They’re the only thing near me that’s like foodie-esque that’s available after 11 o’clock at night. Ninety percent of the time, I’m going to be there between 11 and 1, unless I have leftovers or something.
