During the month of April, we’re spotlighting the daily diets of participants in Lowcountry Local First’s month-long Eat Local Challenge, during which eaters are asked to shift $10 or more of their weekly food budget to items produced, caught or grown in the area. OK, so in the morning I try to like, protein pack. So I had scrambled eggs and a protein shake: It’s protein powder, a banana and almond milk. I also had grilled tomatoes, which I picked up. They were from Holy City Farms, but I got them at Veggie Bin, which is like the coolest spot ever.
I work for Verde, so I get lunch there when I leave. I made a salad of spinach, strawberries, apples, croutons and black beans; keeping up with the protein. I like high protein, and I like to load up on fruit. For dressing, I do olive oil and vinegar.
For dinner, I got a Cuban at Tattooed Moose. And my boyfriend and I had duck fat fries, to balance out my salad.
