A 44-year-old Huger man died Thursday night after losing control of his minivan and crashing into a tree in the Francis Marion National Forest near Awendaw, the authorities said today.
Charles Brisben was driving his Chrysler Town & Country south on Guerins Bridge Road about 7 p.m. when he started approaching a curve near Woodville Road.
Maj. Jim Brady of the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the vehicle was going too fast for the curve. It went off the road and into a ditch, then overcorrected. It struck a tree and overturned.
Brisben died at the scene of blunt trauma, according to Deputy Coroner Kimberly Rhoton.
