Charleston Farmers Market a little different each year

Will Altman of Righteous Ranch sells farm-raised pork at the Charleston Farmers Market.

Just like strawberries and asparagus, the Charleston Farmers Market returns every spring, but the market is slightly different each year, thanks to the addition of new vendors.

The 2014 lineup includes a half-dozen growers and artisans making their debut, including Baked by Rach, a gourmet cookie outfit; Huriyali Juices, a cold-pressed juicer; and Righteous Ranch, a producer of pasture-raised pork, chicken, goose, lamb and beef. Charleston Artisan Cheesehouse is back under new ownership, and Lowcountry AgVentures is selling solar sea salt.

Standard opening hours for the market, located in Marion Square, are 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. But the market convenes Sundays during Piccolo Spoleto: Mark your calendar for 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 1 and June 8. For more information, visit charlestonfarmersmarket.com, or call 724-7305.
