“The South is not a monolith. There are pockets of weirdness, awesomeness and then there's Charleston.”
That's how the first teaser video, tweeted last night, to the Charleston-based episode of CNN's “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown” begins. The sixth season of the show kicked off Sunday at 9 p.m. The Charleston episode will air Nov. 15.
The Charleston episode features Charleston favorite Bill Murray dining at Husk with Bourdain.
“The standard of food here is so high when I go around any place, I just go 'eh,' ” Murray says in the video.
Lowcountry fans got a hint that something featuring the funny man and Bourdain was happening when Bourdain tweeted a selfie of the pair with actor Danny McBride at a RiverDogs game. Murray is a co-owner of the team.
Bourdain was also seen around town at the time with Husk chef Sean Brock, who makes a brief appearance in the “Parts Unknown” teaser.
“Charleston is a place with almost too many beautiful buildings, almost too many incredibly talented chefs and almost too much really, really good food,” Bourdain says in the video.
The Charleston episode will be screened during the Charleston Food Film Festival on Nov. 11 (though the festival runs Nov. 11-13). Tickets to the screening are $68 and can be purchased at thefoodfilmfestival.com.
